Juneteenth – June 19,1865

You guessed it, there is a sneaker for that! Let me start with learning a little more about Juneteenth before jumping right into footwear.

On this day in 1865, in the wonderful city of Galveston, TX, Major General Gordon Granger issued General Notice #3 (basically enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation that was placed into law two and half years prior). Jan 1, 1980, Texas was the first state to make Juneteenth holiday. It only took another 40ish more years to make it a Federal holiday but at least that time has come. (I’m interested to see what the Dakota and Hawaii are thinking)

I appreciate Nike for closing their stores (on a Saturday) for allowing their employees to celebrate. I am sure you are asking (at least you should be asking yourself)- What is a proper Juneteenth celebration? Believe or not: Strawberry Soda (or a red drink of some kind) and a barbeque. Let’s add some education and self reflection in there.

Looking very similar a Jordan 13

Now let’s get to the shoes. If you are interested please see the link below. Let me know your thoughts – leave a comment! I’m excited to hear what you think about the shoes:)
